ELIZABETH GOAD OLIVER,  Professor of Accounting  and Chair of the Accounting Department (Ph.D. Texas A&M University, 1991). 

Dean Oliver teaches financial accounting and researches in the areas of international pension and welfare benefits as well as in earnings management. She has published several studies examining the effect of culture on pension and welfare benefits. Her current research deals with the effect of earnings management on companies' revenue recognition practices. Dean Oliver, a C.P.A., teaches the first half of the Intermediate Accounting course, a course that focuses on the dynamic nature of accounting and how the theory behind the rules relates to the recognition and disclosure shown on the balance sheet.

 

 

ROBERT D. STRAUGHAN, Associate Dean of the Williams School of Commerce, Economics, & Politics and Associate Professor of Business Administration (Ph.D., University of Houston, 1995). 

Dean Straughan's teaching and scholarly interests center on cross-cultural marketing and business education. He has published numerous studies on cross-cultural variations in advertising content, the effectiveness of retail service guarantees, consumer response to domestic versus international retail choices, and consumer evaluation of product warnings. In addition, Professor Straughan has conducted and published award-winning research on the role of study abroad programs in management education and the internationalization of business curricula. He currently teaches courses on marketing management and cross-cultural issues in marketing.  Dean Straughan has been a member of the Williams School faculty since 2000 and has worked with WLSC since 2001.
