Washington and Lee Student Consulting is pleased to present a brief
overview of selected projects completed in recent years. Over the
course of its existence, WLSC has performed significant primary
research and analysis for a variety of local and international clients
to complete projects ranging from business, marketing and strategic
planning to website development and financial statement analysis.
WLSC and its members bring a wealth of knowledge, experience
and resources to each project and adapt them to fit the particular
needs and demands of the client.
Angler's Lane - Developed a more comprehensive marketing plan
and web presence for this Lynchburg-based fly-fishing and outdoor
sports apparel retailer. Attempted to market the store more effectively
towards area college students in order to capitalize on a growing
segment of its market.
Brain, Child Magazine - Performed significant market and demographic
research to help this Charlottesville-based parenting magazine increase
its subscription base. Performed in-depth financial analysis and audited
financial statements according to GAAP.
Fun Foods and Accessories - Developed and implemented a comprehensive
marketing plan to increase business for this novelty retailer based
in Lexington, including creating and maintaining a functional e-commerce
website. Significantly increased awareness and sales volume with an
advertising campaign directed at local students.
Lee Chapel and Museum - Developed and distributed a detailed
survey assessing the value of Lee Chapel and Museum to local residents,
students and tourists with the goal of increasing visitation among
tourists and residents to the museum. Attempted to capture the perceived
potential benefit of adding exhibits or other programs to the museums
offerings.
Lexington Downtown Development Association - Conducted primary
market and demographic research in order to describe the preferences
and habits of downtown patrons. Attempted to help the LDDA tailor
a marketing plan suitable for attracting suitable and sustainable
businesses to the area.
Lexington Downtown Development Association - Developed an
economic impact study and compiled significant survey data to determine
the effects that moving the Lexington courthouse out of the immediate
downtown area would have on merchants, residents and tourists in the
area.
Project Horizon - Developed a comprehensive human resources
study assessing the work practices, productivity and efficiency of
this Lexington-based women's shelter.
Rockbridge Area Recreation Organization - Developed and implemented
an intensive demographic and marketing survey to study the types of
resources and facilities residents of Rockbridge County demanded in
a local outdoor recreation facility.
TIDE Tours - Worked with this environmentally-friendly eco-tourism
venture in Belize to develop a marketing plan that would sufficiently
balance the needs of the firm to increase awareness of the firm while
minimizing the impact an increase in tourism would have on the local
environment.
M&M Landscaping- Created a costing system for an start-up
landscaping firm in coordination with a 6-figure landscaping
contract with Washington and Lee University.
